Obituary for William "Bill" Luke

Funeral services for William “Bill” Luke will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Kingsville Baptist Church, Pineville with Pastor Bart Walker officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Pineville under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria, LA.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Kingsville Baptist Church on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and continued Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

Mr. Luke, 79, of Alexandria, entered into the loving arms of his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was a loving husband, brother, father, stepfather, and grandfather. He was also a faithful member of Kingsville Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed sharing his love for Jesus and how Jesus had changed his life. He enjoyed talking about his many mission trips to Canada and Brazil. Bill cherished the time he and his wife Billie spent as houseparents at Arkansas Baptist Children's Home. Bill was a land title abstractor for over 50 years and was the Owner and CEO of Red River Abstract in Alexandria, Louisiana and Grant Title Company in Colfax, Louisiana for over 20 years. He was known to be one of the best land title abstractors in the State of Louisiana. He and his wife Billie went on to conduct land title research for various oil companies for 15 years.

Bill was also an avid sports enthusiast and involved in numerous community and sports organizations throughout the years, especially when involving his sons. He was president of the local Corvette Club, as well as the Trojan Club at Alexandria Senior High School. He loved baseball and helped coach many of the boys teams. He was a scout for the Philadelphia Phillies, and Texas Rangers Baseball Organizations, organizing one of the largest local Major League Baseball tryouts along with the L.A. Dodgers at Bringhurst Field. He assisted young talent in transitioning to become professional athletes. He always made himself available to help others, as he believed that people were the most important thing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father John Emmett Luke; mother, Mary Lou Chadwick Luke, baby sister, Cheryl Marie Luke; brothers, John "Johnnie" Emmett Luke, Jr., Charles "Chuck" D. Luke; and granddaughter, Loren Nicole Luke.

Those left to cherish his memory include his faithful and loving wife of 25 years, Billie Watson Ross Luke; sons, Timothy "Tim" Luke and Chadwick "Chad" Luke (Judy); Travis Ross, Ben Ross (Nancy), John Ross (Jennifer); Grandsons, Michael "Derek" Mattox, Russell Mattox (Hannah), Aaron Luke, Eli Ross, Charlie Ross, and Memphis Ross; Granddaughters, Makenzie Vercher (Lane), Natalie Ross, Nora Ross, and Layla Ross; Great Grandchildren, Harlee Luke, Brees Luke, Madison A. Mattox, Layla Mattox, Haylie Jeansonne, Alex Wiley, Bryson K. Luke, Brayleigh M. Vercher.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Olson, Ben Ross, John Ross, Russell Mattox, Dale McManus, and Bobby Hunley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Luke, John Wakefield, and Lane Vercher.

In Lieu of flowers, the Family requests memorials be sent to Sarah Thompson Fund.
