Obituary

A Memorial Mass for Danette Tracy Dailey will be Monday, December 7, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Francis Cabrini Church at 2215 E. Texas Ave, Alexandria, Louisiana with Father Chad Partain officiating. Internment will be under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria, Louisiana.

Ms. Dailey, known to her friends as Tracy, passed away on November 30, 2020 at Christus Cabrini Hospital at the age of 57 following a short illness caused by heart concerns. Those left to cherish her memory include her precious 15-year-old daughter, Hazel Ann Mixon, and sisters-in-law, Lisa Sigsworth and Yvonne Price as well as dear cousins Charlene Palmer, Destiny and Sean Maddox. It takes a village to raise a teenager and Tracy considered her Alexandria friends as family which included Angela Soileau, Mike & Patricia Koch, Harold & Vicky Murry, Michelle, church secretary and other staff at St. Francis Cabrini Church, along with her counselors at Phoenix Family Life and Eckerd Connects.

Ms. Dailey was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel George Dailey and Hazel Rankin Dailey of Columbia, Louisiana, as well as her brother, Vollie Porter of Ashdown, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roger Preston Mixon. She leaves behind relatives in the Monroe, Columbia, Jonesville and Abita Springs areas of Louisiana as well as family members in Natchez, Mississippi.

Tracy attended ULM formerly Northeast La University following graduation from Columbia High School. She lived many years in Oceanside, California before the family returned to Columbia, Louisiana. California though shaped her love of cooler temperatures, mountain views and a love of music, especially Freddy Mercury and Queen; Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. She enjoyed rock and roll and took advantage in her younger years of as many concerts as she could attend.

To those who truly knew Tracy, knew that her strength (and weakness) was her love for her daughter, Hazel. She battled to gain sobriety and has been free of alcohol and illegal substances for 10 years; something she remained proud and committed to because of Hazel. As she and Hazel made their lives together, they shared a love of animals (who love unconditionally) and perhaps took in too many “lost” puppies or kittens or the occasional guinea pig or cute mouse. She could never say no because the animals brought, she and Hazel joy.

She will be deeply missed.
