Obituary for Thelma Rhea Haynes (Jones)

Thelma Rhea Jones Haynes passed away peacefully at the age of 104 in her Ball residence surrounded by her loving family. She was a homemaker and partner with her husband of 67 years. They owned the Palm Drive-In and Haynes Realty. Thelma Rhea is preceded in death by her parents Len and Lena Keller Jones of Jena, La., husband M. J. "Jimmy" Haynes, daughter Linda Kreger, grandchildren Kathy Kreger and John Michael Haynes and daughter-in-law Dixie Haynes. She is survived by two sons M. Joe Haynes and Mike Haynes (Sue); four grandchildren Kelley Basco, Chris Haynes (Lori), Michelle Hill (Jeff) and Misty Borders (Brett); ten great-grandchildren Heather Basco, Amanda Ransom (Jeremy), Kerri Basco, Kyle Mayo, Ashley Hill, Jake Hill, Tyler Haynes (Melodie), Amelia Hill, Robert and Ava Borders. Four great-great-grandchildren Harlee and Journey Basco, Colt Haynes and Adley Ransom, nephews Jerry Jones (Kathy), Larry Haynes (Marty), Steve Haynes, and niece Susie Gassiott. She will be remembered for her love of family, friends and her giving spirit. Through the years she was active with her husband in many Veteran's groups. She loved dancing, arranging flowers, Saints and LSU football and reading. She was proud to say that she had recently read the Bible through. The family would like to extend our thanks to Dr. James Wallace, Still Waters Hospice especially Sarah and staff for their giving care during these difficult weeks. A special thanks to granddaughter Kelley and her daughters Heather and Kerri who helped their Granny with such loving care. A memorial service will be held on February 10, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Hosanna Baptist Church, 125 Powell Drive, Ball, La. with Bro. Bennie Hollingsworth officiating and Bro. Joe Haynes assisting, under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Thelma requested memorials be made to St. Jude' s Children Hospital, Hosanna Baptist Church or Gideon's International.
