Obituary for Shirley Fleming
Graveside services for Shirley Mae Dotson Fleming were held at 11AM, Monday, June 29, 2020 at Belah Cemetery, Trout, LA under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria.
Shirley Mae Dotson Fleming, 68, of Omaha, Texas, formally of Trout, Louisiana, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 22, 2020 at 2:38am. She was a homemaker and a very proud Nana of 5 grandkids and 1 great granddaughter, which was the light of her life after her retirement. She graduated Jena High School in 1969, home of the Jena Giants, where she played basketball and was a gold duster. She married in 1970 to Irving Ray Fleming and they had two daughters. She worked as night desk clerk at Townsmen Inn in Jena for several years. Also at Jena Burger Barn and Ginny’s Restaurant during and after she retired from throwing the Alexandria Daily Town Talk for over 20 plus years. She was always busy and on the go. She was born November 14, 1951 in Jena, Louisiana to C.C. and Ivalere Dotson of Trout community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C.C. (Columbus) and Ivalere Dotson of Trout, Louisiana; husband of 38 years, Irving Ray Fleming; son-n-law, Christopher (Chris) Dabbs.
Those left to cherish her memory include one brother, Ray Dotson and wife Diann; sisters, Sybil Hughart and Linda Wilson, both of Jena; daughters, Jennifer Fleming Whatley and husband Michael of Omaha, TX and Marybeth Fleming Young and husband Kyle of Longview, TX; grandchildren, Coltin Fleming and wife Lindsey of Pittsburg, TX, Lane Pritchard of Pittsburg, TX, Tanner Whatley of Omaha, TX, Ryan Dabbs of Longview, TX, Emma Lee Whatley and Zach Sivertsen of Longview, TX; great granddaughter, Charlotte Fleming of Pittsburg, TX.
Pallbearers were Christopher Crowston, Coltin Fleming, Chris Hughart, Cory Dotson and Casey Dotson. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Landers and Zachary Sivertsen.
