Obituary for Robert "Bobby" Barnes

Services for Robert Glynn “Bobby” Barnes will be at 1PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Minden, LA with Bro. Bo Prather officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 am until time of service at 1PM, Wednesday, May 18th at the church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria.

Robert Glynn “Bobby” Barnes, 83, went to rest in the arms of Jesus on May 15, 2022 at Hardtner Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born August 24, 1938 in Bellevue oilfield to Robert Calvin Barnes and Violet Marguerite Faircloth. Bobby completed his education in 1951 at Haughton High School. Afterwards, he continued to work in the oilfield where he began working to assist his family at the age of 9. He met and married Carolyn Lyle in April 1957. He worked for Bayou State, Citi Service, and various other companies throughout his career. After retiring from the oil industry, he went to work at the LaSalle Correctional Center as a transportation officer. He was a man of many professions and talents. He loved to fish and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anyone that met him knew his pride and joy was and always will be his family. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, sisters, Frieda Seabourne, Barbara Cook, brother, Tommy Barnes and great grand-daughters, Ava Elizabeth Clark and Amelia Rose Cannon.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn Lyle Barnes; daughter, Theresa Stewart of Springhill, La “Richard”; sons, Kenneth Barnes of Bosco, La “Pamela” and Christopher Barnes of Nixa, Mo “Candace”; granddaughters, Amy (RoseBud LaShay) Barnes Clark “Bill”, Whitley (Whitter) Barnes Cannon “Bailey”, and Brealyn (Peanut) Barnes; great grandchildren, Owen Clark, Jace Moses, Warren Glynn Clark, Dalten Clark, Silas Robert Barnes, and two more on the way, a girl Everly Rose Cannon and a boy Cash (Cashew) Winston James Barnes; two brothers, David and Edward Barnes; and one sister Ann Richardson.
