Obituary for Larry R. Cotten
Services for Larry R. Cotten will be at 12PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Cornerstone Apostolic Church, 320 Highway 503, Olla, LA 71465 with Bro. Dan McClure and R. V. Couch officiating. Visitation will be from 11AM until time of service at 12PM, Tuesday, February 8th at the church. Interment will follow at the Swilley-Westbrooks Cemetery of Aimwell, La under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria, LA.
Larry R. Cotten was born January 2, 1940 and passed from this life on February 6, 2022 at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 4 days. He was 6th child of 10 born to Purvis R. and Eva L. Young Cotten. Larry joined the Navy at a young age and spent his tour in and around California. He later drove 18 wheelers cross country and for local companies before retiring. He worked as a home health and hospital employee for several years in Catahoula and LaSalle Parish. In 1964 Larry met Octavia Smith. They were married April 2, 1966. They lived in the Sandy Lake community, after returning from Texas and eventually moved to the Amoch community. There they built their home that they shared until her death a little over 2 years ago. They worked and retired in their nest. In 1977 they found their love and apple of their eye, Tina. They had a bigger Apple to come along in 2011, GRACE. She took their heart. Larry and Tavia loved their girls.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Octavia Smith Cotten; parents, and 5 siblings and 1 half sister, Laura Mae Cotten Curry; sisters, Vergie Westbrooks, Helen Westbrooks and Grace Mitchell and two brothers, Earl Cotten and Nathan Cotten.
He is survived by his only daughter, Tina Cotten; one granddaughter, Grace Simons; sisters, Rosa Lege of Jena La, Jane Curry of Grayson La, Evelyn Stutts of Pioneer La and Doris Miles of Garland TX; and many nieces and nephews and host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Connor Ainsworth, Jeff Ainsworth, Eugene Cotten, PJ Westbrooks, Brant Westbrooks and Leroy Westbrooks.
