Obituary

Memorial services for Kenneth G Wood will be held outdoors at 1:00 PM Friday Jan. 15, 2021 at Utility Baptist Church, Jonesville, LA with Rev. Dustin Robertson and Rev. Mike Russell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 until time of service at 1:00 outdoors at the church under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria. Kenneth G. Wood, 74, of Harrisonburg, was born in Truman, AR, to the union of Aurie Belle and Buford Wood. He graduated from Arkansas State University and was Executive Vice President of Southern Heritage Bank where he was employed for 41 years. Kenneth was choir director of Utility Baptist Church for 40 years. He loved to travel and cook. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kathryn Slaughter Wood, daughters, Aissa Wiggins of Bay St. Louis, MS and Rhonda Sanson {Justin} of Harrisonburg, brother Dennis Wood {Linda} of Salem, AR; 2 grandchildren, Kelsey Kindrix and Kaden Sanson, cousins, Charles and Gary Wood. Pallbearers will be Randall Welch, Everette Mayo, Sam Wilkerson, Joe Wilson, Lee Richardel and Jim Layer. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Teague, Tom Watkins, Larry Chauvin, Paul Matthews, Mike Stoops and the board of directors of Southern Heritage Bank. Guests are welcome to meet the family & sign guest book, remain in their vehicle and tune the radio to 89.3 or sit in provided seating outdoors. The service will also be live on Utility Baptist Church Facebook page.

What a Great Man. I only got to see him about 3 times a week. He would say he was embarrassed to ask but. He would say would you please pickup some clothing up at store in Alexandria and bring them here. And of course i would say sure. It wasn't a problem just the way he was. We talked several times about things here and there. He told me one day that he wasn't a social butterfly. But he said he was glad to call me his friend and enjoyed our talks. We will miss you. RIP Friend. God Bless His Family and Friends.
