Obituary for Joseph L. Appalucci

Memorial services for Joseph L. Appalucci will be at 4PM, Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Grace Church, 4900 Jackson Street, Alexandria, LA. Joseph L. Appalucci was born January 1, 1930 and passed away July 8, 2022. He graduated from Edward Bok Vocational Technical School, Philadelphia, PA. 1949-1952 he served in US Marine Corp, 2-year tour in Korea, Korean Service Medal with one-star United Nations Service Medal. He graduated in 1955 Philadelphia College of Art. After graduation he worked various jobs from piano mover to cartographer. He married Eileen J. Demmy November 19, 1955. 1959 he joined Ritter-Lieberman as art director. 1962-64 broke into newspaper syndication with the George Matthew Adams Syndicate for his cartoon "Cuppy the Newsboy"' and 1963-1968 "The Byrds". 1965 Became Art Director of Lieberman-Associates. 1969 One man show at Allentown Art Museum. 1981 Became Partner and Creative Director of Lieberman-Appalucci. Under his creative leadership Lieberman-Appalucci grew to be the largest advertising agency in Northeast PA. Handling major national clients such as Mack Trucks, PP&L and Penske. 2001 h retired and in 2004 moved to Alexandria, LA. He was active in CAG (The Contemporary Artist Guild) designed their logo. 2004-2022 Active in The Peyton Memorial Art Show. His piece from 2004 is in their permanent collection. 2013 one man show at the Alexandria Art Museum. Several pieces are in their permanent collection. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Eileen (2015); his nephew, Jonathon (Rosanne-2018); and his daughter, Barbara (Norman-2020). He is survived by his daughter, Carole (Tony) Hanna, their sons Nick, Alex (Megan); great granddaughter, Rooney, daughter, Rosanne, her daughter Sarah, Barbara's children Rachel, Eileen and Michael; his sister, Carole Moscinski and her 3 children David, Denise and Karen.
