John Dexter Huffman, 66, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at his home in Nebo. Daddy, Son, Brother, John Dexter, Paw Paw, Big John, Uncle John just to name a few of what the gentle Giant John Huffman was known as. Big John was a man of many words that loved to tell stories but you never knew if they were 100% true, definitely a jokester. He was so kind and gentle and never met a stranger. He loved to cook and enjoy some good ole fried fish and chicken w/ hot biscuits and cane syrup so much that he didn’t have a sweet tooth left. He was a master craftsman that could fix or rig anything. He loved to garden and raise different animals. He worked for many years tending too and taking care of the Nebo Water System. Many times not able to but he was dedicated to his job. These are just many of the things that Big John enjoyed doing before he was unable to. Big John loved to watch “How it’s Made” and “GunSmoke”. These are just some of the memories we as a family hold dear but we cannot fail to mention how everyone loved his sausage and boudin. He made the best and everyone knew it, and he loved being able to do it. Our gentle giant left his legacy with everyone he came in contact with. His family was definitely his pride and joy. When he met and married Jackie, his beloved wife, it changed his life forever. Then along came Anthony, the golden child, not long afterwards and life couldn’t have gotten any better for sure. Once his health worsened God blessed him with Mrs. Angie, the most wonderful caregiver ever. She was so faithful to him and took such great care of him. Along with Mrs. Angie, Anthony and Toi was always there tending to and taking care of his every need. They never let him want for anything. Even though he was unable to tend to himself, he had the ultimate care. Toi and Anthony brought much joy into his life when they had Kindlyn and Madisyn his grandbabies. They enjoyed going to see their PawPaw and getting all his attention. He loved so easily and was always there for anyone that needed help. We are going to miss our daddy, brother, PawPaw, Uncle, "Big John”.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; parents, Anthony & Mary; and sister, Sarah Pritchard and her husband Drewitt.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Anthony and wife Toi; two grandchildren, Kindlyn and Madisyn; one brother, Roger and wife Myra; host of nieces and nephews; and special friend and caretaker, Angie Rider.

Pallbearers will be Will Huffman, Jamie Pritchard, Tyler Pritchard, Duane Kelley, Thomas Kelley and Jacob Fontenot. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Martin, Ricky Huffman, Keith Ray, Ricky Ray and Lynn Huffman.
