Obituary for Jim Warren Bignar

Jim Warren Bignar, 73, of the Belah Community, passed from this life on Friday, February 5, 2021, at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia Heights.

Jim was very healthy until he developed shingles recently, and with his immune system being low, he contracted Covid-19, and died from complications from the disease.

He was born July 8, 1947 in Jena, to the union of his parents, Ira Leon Bignar, Sr. and Verda Moise Masters Bignar.

A 1965 graduate of Jena High School, Jim was a school bus driver for the LaSalle Parish School System for more than 30 years.

Visitation will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church in the Belah Community from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12.

A private graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Belah Cemetery, with Rev. Brandon Poole, pastor of Good Pine Baptist Church, officiating.

Arrangements are under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ira Leon “Chubby” Bignar, Jr.; and two sisters, Judy Diane Robertson and Lana Doreen Price.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Jimmie Smith Bignar; daughters, Kimberly Bradford, Khristi Poole, Adrian Hall, and Stephanie Greene; a brother, Ronald Craig Bignar; 13 grandchildren, Lonnie Bradford, Allison Whatley, Garrett Poole, Nathan Poole, Kassi Aguliar, Amanda Hall, Britton Hall, Katie Francis, Carrie Hall, Dylan Hall, Warren Ainsworth, Elizabeth Butler, and Hunter Butler; seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The 13 grandchildren will serve as pallbearers, and the seven great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
