Dr. Gates, My heart truly aches for you and your family. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. You took such amazing care of me for well over 20 years. I am so very sorry that there’s nothing I can do to ease your pain. Heather Pendarvis

I had the pleasure of working with Belle when she was very young. She never met a stranger and was always up for a hug. I don’t think she had one mean bone in her body. Belle wore her heart on her sleeve — happy or sad....You never had to guess how she was feeling. She was unpretentious, and her smile contagious. It was hard not to be happy around a happy Belle. I feel all of us girls at work took her under our wings, and we really cared for her. I also got to witness the loving, close relationship she had with her dad, Dr. Gates, and we all knew how proud she was to be his daughter. I know her absence will be felt by her entire family every single day. I’m so saddened by the news of her death. I can only imagine the smiles and hugs she’s giving in heaven right now. We will see you again, Belle, sweet girl. Love you.
