Gloria June “Midge” Slider, 81, of Alexandria, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Lewis Slider; daughter and son-in-law, Angel and Jeff Ray; son and fiancé, Jack Slider and Stephanie Semons; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Tania Tanner; grandchildren, Johnny and Nila Coffey, Mandy Coffey, Shannon Coffey and Isaac Lair, Clint Estep, Taylor Smith and Malvin Torres, Chancey and Sam French, Jessica and Eathon Liles, Sydney and Benjamin Ross; Harley Stewart; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Bessie and Preston Tanner; sisters, Dorothy Grubbs, Earnastine Tanner and Brenda Jackson; brothers, Billy and James Ray Tanner; daughter, Italy Estep; son, Lance Slider; and grandson-in-law, Peter Cephas.
Gloria June “Midge” Slider was born in Hayti, Missouri on February 12, 1942. She married Lewis Nelson Slider in 1965, shortly whereafter they made their home in Louisiana. Midge was a hard worker all her life and took pride in owning her own convenient store before managing the Alexandria Holsum Bakery store where she retired. She was an avid supporter and contributor of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital after the passing of her youngest son, Lance, who was born a “blue baby” and passed away at two years old. Midge was a friend to all. She always had a kind word and a big heart for her family, friends and everyone who had the pleasure to know her. She was an adored and beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed and always cherished.
