Obituary for George Wesley Hailey

George Wesley Hailey, 48, of Jena, was called home to meet his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. He was born on Sunday, May 7, 1972 in Jasper, Texas. He spent most of his childhood and adult life in Jena, LA. George had a love for the oilfield, following in the footsteps of his father Earl, Sr. and his older brother Benny. He held many positions over the years. He began his oilfield career as a Roughneck then worked his way up to Derrickman, Driller, Toolpusher, Directional Driller and Drilling Consultant. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a free spirit who loved riding his motorcycle, watching the Saints football team, and traveling extensively. George was most recently a Drilling Consultant for Aramco in Saudi Arabia. His rig manager in Saudi commended him as a very good worker who was well liked by everyone. He was described as a friendly person who was funny and enjoyed joking and laughing. They enjoyed his cooking and the Louisiana cuisine he introduced them to. It was said that to the Aramco co-workers it was like losing a brother and they were saddened by his passing. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ike Earl Hailey and Bennie Mae Johnson Hailey; brother Charles Aaron Hailey; aunts Georgia H. Jones and Beth Hailey May; and niece Grace Hailey. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly D. Breithaupt of Rhinehart; daughter, Sonya Hope Hailey and fiance Landon York of Mandeville; parents Earl D. Hailey, Sr. and Thalia D. Hailey of Jena; In-laws John G. Breithaupt and Shirley Breithaupt of Rhinehart; brothers, Benny Hoyt Hailey (Karen), Earl D. Hailey, Jr., Darrell Ray Davis, all of Jena, and Tommy Ike Hailey (Debra Jo) of Ponchatula; sisters, Kathy H. McKenzie (Ronnie) of Montgomery, Alabama and Connie H. Masters (Dinky) of Jena; brother-in-law, Chris Breithaupt of Rhinehart; special aunt Ikie H. Henderson and special cousin Raye E. Henderson, both of Harrisonburg; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; friends who were like family to him: Chuck Boyette, Ronnie Ray, Lloyd Thompson, Jr., Rover Ben Sharp, Andy Paul, Joe LaCroix, and his Aramco co-workers. George was a kind and gentle soul who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A graveside service will be held at Hailey Cemetery, Hwy 127, south of Jena, LA at 10 AM on Monday, November 9, 2020 with Bro. Tim Kirl officiating. Interment to follow under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria, LA. Pallbearers: Benny H. Hailey, Tommy I. Hailey, Earl D. Hailey, Jr., Darrell R. Davis, Chuck Boyette and Ronnie Ray.
