Obituary for Doris Simpson
Doris Simpson, 88, passed away August 24, 2020 in her residence.
Doris was a “take charge and get it done” person throughout her life. She loved challenges and never say “it can’t be done” because she would prove you wrong. She always wanted to learn new things and that was shown by her lifetime of working. She was a cafeteria manager, competitive shopper, licensed florist, ceramic shop owner, real estate agent, newspaper route supervisor and finally a night guard at her apartment complex until she was 82. She loved dogs, playing bingo and doing puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Green; mother, Bessie Schmer; brothers , James Aulton Green and James Edward Caldwell.
Those left to cherish her memory include son, Joe Gibbons of Denton, TX; daughters, Janie Vicknair(David) of Alexandria, LA and Mary Filippelli(Nick) of Troy, NC; grandchildren, Bridget Anders(Dusty), Edgar Vicknair(Jennifer), Toby Vicknair(Tonya), Laurie Meche, Carrie Noel(Luc), Justin Bearce and Sam Gibbons along with 12 great grandchildren; also a very special friend Roy (Bo) Dunn and his dog Boudreau, whom she loved more than anything in the world.
Very special thanks to Bo and Boudreau, Our Lady’s Manor staff, Marigold Place staff and Serenity Hospice nurses, especially Darnetta, “her bath girl”.
