Obituary for Donald Morris

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Morris 58, of Alexandria, La. He entered into the presence of Our Lord and Savior on May 31, 2021. Donald peacefully transitioned at home with his significant other; Arlene Deemer by his side. Born December 17, 1962, Donald was the first born son of Alma Lee Morris and Henry Clay Hill in New Orleans, Louisiana. He leaves to mourn 1 son; Michael Morris, 1 daughter Della Morris, his only brother and closest comrad; Alexander Hamilton, 5 sisters; Beverly Moses, Veronica Johnson, Lisa Coleman, Joyce Morris, Dasmer Hamilton, his significant other Arlene Deemer and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Early in Donald’s childhood the family relocated to Bakersfield California where they began to lay down roots. Donald attended Bessie Owens Elementary, Emerson Junior High School; where he was an outstanding baseball player, and Foothill High School all of Bakersfield California. Donald lived his life on his terms. He was a humble, easy going, genuine and caring guy who was loved by all who knew him. He could often be found at home cooking and spending quality time with family and close friends. We always said "Donald missed his calling as a comedian, because he was always the life of the party." He always had a smile to greet you and as everyone knew, the "jokie jokes" were sure to follow. Shows like The Sopranos, Adam 12, Gun Smoke and Perry Mason were among his favorites. He enjoyed listening to 70's R&B and Soul music. Before leaving Bakersfield, Donald saved the life of a very special friend; Ms. Ruby Stein Jones, whose family is also in mourning and will always be grateful to Donald. Welcoming Donald into heaven will be his mother Alma aka "Madea", Stein other relatives, friends and acquaintances. He was a friend to all, he never met a stranger and will always be remembered by those who knew & loved him. He's in our hearts and we will see him again.
