Obituary for Candace LeGrande
Candace Melinda Zimmerman LeGrande ran into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday October 3, 2020. She died peacefully with her family by her side.
Born June 27, 1952 in Key West Florida, Candy was the first of three daughters born to Beverly and William Zimmerman. She attended Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, Louisiana and later transferred to Joseph Moore Davidson High School in St. Joseph, Louisiana, where she graduated in 1970. Candy attended Northeastern Louisiana University (now ULM) and went on to pursue a career as an executive assistant in the legal and medical fields.
Candy was a devoted mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had an exuberant enjoyment of life that was as contagious as her bright smile and hearty laugh. Wherever she turned, she left her mark upon others with her helpful energy, authentically caring disposition, and boundless love. Most recently, you would find Candy happiest when playing with her two-year-old great-grandson, Chase, and sharing special time and meals with her children and grandchildren. She began each day with an early-morning cup of coffee and the Lord’s word. Her faith in and love for Jesus fueled everything she did, and she often shared encouraging notes and scripture with her sisters. Candy loved country roads, good music, and good food. She was an avid cook and loved to entertain.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jenny LeGrande of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Jaime and Shannon Blake of Winnfield, Louisiana, grandchildren Gracie, Rett, and John Robert Blake of Winnfield, Louisiana, grandson Dylan Brannen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, great-grandson Chase Landry Ferrier and his father, Laine Ferrier, of Winnfield, Louisiana.
Candy will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in our memories as we recall her strong faith, giving nature, courage, perseverance, and joy.
