Barbara has been on my mind so much in these last few months and especially in the last 2 weeks since her passing.

We received an email at work about posting memories of Barbara So here goes.

Barbara and several of us that worked on the night shift at Riverland had formed a special bond. Sometimes we were down right crazy. That’s what he took just to stay awake at 3:00 in the morning.

We had a running joke about a certain red velvet cake that a couple of her sisters may know about. A year or so had passed since the red velvet cake incident and we were having a discussion about “wonder what they do with expired eggs ?” And out of the blue someone said “they make red velvet cakes” and of course we had to tell the story about the cake and we laughed and laughed.
I loved for Barbara to tell me about the trips with her sister and daughter and nieces. She would get a sparkle in her eyes. She would tell about getting the mani pedis and all the things y’all all did together.

Barbara would tell me about her younger days when she lived up north and worked up there, she was quite the girl about town. I just couldn’t imagine our home girl up there.

Also she loved her family, not just her kids but her sisters and brothers and her Mama and Daddy. She would share memories of growing up and I could tell she had good parents that instilled a lifetime of respect and appreciation for what she had.

She loved Jay and talked about their life together. She talked about her grands and was forever telling us what one of the twins had done and we would have a good laugh.

I can never remember her talking about bad times and I’m sure there were some but she always focused on the positive, I guess that was just her personality.

I was so glad when she got that office position because I knew she would be perfect for the job. She was a natural born people person.

I’m going to miss seeing her in the mornings and getting a hug. My heart breaks for Jay and her family including us here at Riverland.

Until we meet again Barbara will remain is my heart and memories.

Barbara was a good and sweet friend of mine. She always kept me laughing. I always knew when she went on her vacations. She would talk about the times she had and she would never forget to bring me back a souvenir. I really enjoyed Barbara telling me about her family and showing me pictures of them. There was no one at work who could out talk her and she never met a stranger. I enjoyed all the fun we had at work together. You were a great, funny friend and you will never be forgotten. Especially your infectious smile!
Until I see you again,

Oh, sweet Barbara. We worked night shift together when we both started at Riverland. What a time that was! Cynthia Stumps, Barbara and I became "Sistas". (I have a magnet that she brought from one of her sister getaways in Florida to prove it. It says, You either have one, know one, or are one- Crazy Sistas.) We would talk and laugh about everything under the sun. I know she loved her family by how she talked about them. From Mr. Jay, her siblings, her children, and most definitely her grands, it seemed like I knew you all personally. Barbara loved you all so much. She will definitely be missed and I have comfort in knowing that God only picks the most beautiful flowers for his garden and he got one of the most beautiful ones this time.

Even though we haven't visited in many years, when we did, Barbara was always the same sweet girl I remember from high school. Always smiling and always so giving! Heaven's gain is our loss. Sending love and prayers to her family! Penny Daggett
