Obituary for Anna Ruth "Pudden" Hooter (Baldridge)

Services for Anna Ruth “Pudden” Baldridge Hooter, will be at 11AM, Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church, Jena, LA, with Bro. Curtis Thornton officiating. Visitation will be at the Church on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 5PM, until 9PM, and Tuesday from 9AM until time of services. Interment will follow at Summerville Baptist Church Cemetery, Summerville, LA under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria, LA.

Anna Ruth “Pudden” Baldridge Hooter, 86, of Summerville passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023 at LaSalle General Hospital, Jena, LA, after a lengthy illness.

Anna was born June 14, 1936 at her home in the Zenoria community in Trout, LA, under the union of her parents, Samuel Edwin Baldridge and Anna Campbell Baldridge.

At the early age of 16, she married the love of her life, Oscar Fred Hooter on October 9, 1952. They settled down in Summerville once he got out of the Army and started their family. She was a devoted mother to her 10 children, 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Whether it was gardening to feed her growing crew or simply working in her flower beds to enjoy nature, she had a passion for plants. Her love of all things creative spanned from gardening to quilting, cooking, writing and rock collecting. Her collection includes samples from Alaska to Germany and her most recent favorite place, Oak Island, Nova Scotia. It was an ever growing fascination that started in her youth. One of the things that was unique to her was her propensity to re-write songs and sing them to those she loved. These gifts she passed on to several of her children and grandchildren and they will live on with them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Fred Hooter, Sr., her parents; son, Oscar Fred Hooter, Jr., 2 daughters, Debra Diane Hooter and Chasta Louise Hooter; brother, Jesse Edwin “Jess” Baldridge; sister, Eunice Mae “Sis” Masters and great granddaughter, Lauren Everly McDowell.

Those left to cherish her memory are her 5 sons, Howard Edwin Hooter (Kim) of Summerville, Anthony Duane Hooter (LaTonya) of Creola, Clifford Glenn Hooter (Jackie) of Jena, Joseph Eric Hooter (Donniel) of Monroe and James Matthew Hooter (Marie) of Kelly; 2 daughters, Lora Lee Hooter-Bradford (Johnny Wayne) of Jena and Martha Me-Murf Bouillion (Joe) of Alexandria; 14 grandchildren, Chad Hooter, Jake Hooter, Michael Hooter, Kyle Hooter, Ben Bouillion, John Bouillion, Samuel Bradford, Mandy Hooter, Melissa Cooper, Anna Willis, Jessica McDowell, Magan McNeill, Grace Maree Hooter and Lauryn Macie Hooter; 18 great grandchildren (her pride and joy), Caden Hooter, Landon Hooter, Logan Knudsen, Hudson Cooper, Colin Cooper, Jaxon Hooter, Rayner Hooter, Adrian Hooter, Jack Scroggs, Judah McDowell, Hayden Hooter, Madilyn Hooter, Sutton Cooper, Ann Elise Hooter, Charleigh Kate Murfy Hooter, Ella Rose McDowell, Anna Clare Hooter and Halli Jo Hooter.

Pallbearers will be Chad Hooter, Jake Hooter, Caden Hooter, Jack Zeagler, Larry Masters and Melvin “Buck” Bruce. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hooter, Kyle Hooter, Samuel Bradford, Ben Bouillion, John Bouillion and Landon Hooter, Logan Knudsen, Hudson Cooper, Colin Cooper, Jaxon Hooter, Rayner Hooter, Adrian Hooter, Jack Scroggs, Judah McDowell and Hayden Hooter.
